Founded by an independent educator (and former homeschool mom), IndyEd.com recognizes the serious issues facing both learners and educators. Independent educators basically have two choices when it comes to reaching learners: join a huge corporate platform that can take 30% or more of their income in commissions or try to go it alone in a sea of educational businesses and hope learners stumble across them. Meanwhile, learners must search through countless individual websites hoping to find what they're looking for or go to one of the large platforms that controls who, what, and how educators can teach. IndyEd.com takes the corporation out of education and gives it back to whom it belongs—independent learners and independent educators. We provide a space where independent educators maintain the autonomy to teach according to their passions and preferences while giving learners a way to easily find them, fostering a more enriching educational journey for all.

All of our educators and educational products are divided by Secular or Non-Secular (Religious). You can easily sort through these products by choosing your preferred curriculum type in our search filters. This allows you complete freedom of choice when it comes to building your independent education.
Yes! We take pride in making education all-inclusive for learners of all types! Educators are able to add neurodivergent categories such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, autism, ADHD, auditory processing, and more to their listings. As a learner, you are able to search for listings that are in these categories. We require our educators to explain their specializations and/or accommodations on each listing, and also encourage you to discuss your specific needs with the educator prior to purchase.
No. Since we welcome educators from around the world who do not work directly for IndyEd.com and do not interact with students on our platform, we are unable to conduct background checks. Educators may have their own documentation to provide you with, or work for other organizations that can. We recommend you perform your own due diligence.
No, we do not have a review system because we don't sell any educational products directly through our site. Without a way to verify purchases, we cannot ensure the authenticity of reviews, leaving us vulnerable to fake reviews, both positive and negative. However, educators can link to external reviews, which can be found in the descriptions on their profile pages and/or educational product listings.
We strive to maintain a list of highly professional, passionate educators. However, we understand that sometimes you may encounter an educator that falls short of your expectations. First, we encourage you to discuss your expectations with the educator BEFORE you purchase. Make sure you understand what you are purchasing and the educator's policies. If you have a bad experience, work with the educator to solve the problem. While IndyEd.com does not intervene in disputes between educators and learners, if you have an experience that you feel should be brought to the attention of IndyEd.com, please contact us.
No purchases are made through IndyEd.com. We are strictly a marketing platform where educators list the educational opportunities they are offering. All purchases are made directly through the educator's chosen payment method. It is your responsibility to understand the educator's refund policies prior to purchase.
