Description

The First Grade Reading course teaches students listening skills and oral language skills, writing skills, and the skills needed to become effective readers. Areas addressed include an overview of listening and oral language skills; decoding, structural analysis, phonemic awareness and vocabulary skills; reading and literature skills; study skills; pre-writing and composition skills; spelling; and handwriting. <br>The goals of the reading program is to instill a love of reading within all students by introducing engaging texts and authors. Helping students discover the different purposes for reading by exploring sub genres, using worksheets, hands-on projects and art. State standards are adhered to in this course, and noted on the unit overlooks.
