Description
In this one-time, lighthearted, spooky Halloween class, learners will suggest words using specific parts of speech and collaborate to discover great ways to write a silly, spooky story. Learners are encouraged to finish the story and draw an illustration after class, if they would like.
The teacher will:
- Review parts of speech (noun, verb, adjective, adverb)
- Introduce discussions about the setting.
- Assist with spelling, grammar, etc
- Facilitate random selection of words to use in the story
The learners will:
- Offer suggestions for words in each category
- Verbalize, chat, or annotate their selections in the Zoom call
- Help other learners, when asked, to brainstorm
- Suggest a personalized ending to each week's story
- Illustrate and complete the story to share after class (optional)It helps if learners are already be able to write (or type).
Learners are welcome to bring something to write/draw and/or color with (type on) to class, but writing is not necessary during class. Learners will be able to annotate directly on the class slides, and it would be helpful to know how to do so. Learners who cannot write are welcome to contribute verbally to the class! They should also bring their imagination. A sense of humor doesn't hurt, either!
