Description
This comprehensive program is rooted in the Science of Reading and taught by a dual-licensed teacher. We will set the stage for this class by introducing routines and concepts such as ear training (phonemic awareness), mouth training (articulation), and using a sound wall. These routines, along with other essential elements of successful reading instruction, will be used in conjunction with thoughtfully planned hands-on activities, silly songs, and fun games. After the first few lessons, students will be given beginning decodable texts to read independently. Students will be reading custom decodable passages after just a few weeks! These texts will build confidence by allowing learners to read a passage that uses only the patterns and "heart" words that they have already learned.
Neurodivergency Specializations and Accommodations
As an experienced, certified Special Education Teacher, I take inclusivity seriously! This class is available to learners of ALL abilities. I use best practices such as multisensory learning, "chunking" of information, movement breaks, and interleaved practice. All learners can benefit from these practices, but they are especially beneficial to students with various disabilities such as Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, and Auditory Processing Disorder.
If you have ANY questions about how I can support your learner, please do not hesitate to reach out to me!
