Description

This course satisfies the Language Arts requirement for 10th grade students. Through the exploration of world literature, Language Arts 10 will cover four fundamental areas based on the Common Core State Standards: (1) Reading literature, (2) Reading non-fiction, (3) Writing, and (4) Speaking and listening. Students will focus on developing skills to cite textual evidence, analyze character, determine the theme or main idea, and understand vocabulary meaning, as well as analyzing text structure and point of view. Writing assignments will emphasize the three genres of argument, informative/explanatory, and narrative. Students will participate in various discussions, presentations, and utilize digital media to showcase their findings. (semester 2 of 2)
