Description
Literary devices start with metaphors and alliteration and quickly get more complex with anastrophe, antiphrasis, and zeugma. We’ll also discover the complexities of rhyme and rhythm—so vital to understanding and analyzing poetry. We’ll throw in rhetoric and rhetorical fallacies—most of which appear in the beloved Cabinet Debates.
And, of course, we’ll look at themes, motifs, allegory, irony, symbolism, and all the other complexities of Hamilton. The delightful bit is that the Hamilton musical really is this developed, and showcases all these concepts in its lightning-fast prose. (We can also throw in some Encanto, In the Heights, and other Miranda creations).
Ace these high school literary analysis building blocks!
Note to Parents: Students/families should be generally familiar with Hamilton and the content before signing up for this course.
