Description
A 6 week digital art look at Warhol, who was a fascinating pop artist that is widely recognized - let's dig into his humble beginnings!
Does your student spend hours drawing on their iPad? In "Meet The Masters...With a Digital Twist" we will harness that curiosity and passion and use it to interact with the great masters of art history.
**This class assumes an understanding of Procreate or wahtever digital drawing app your student uses! I will not be teaching the apps in this class, rather USING the apps to explore art history through the various mediums and methods they provide** if your student needs to learn how to use Procreate, please see my Intro series before enrolling in the "Meet The Masters" classes!
Through the six weeks of our study of Warhol we will look at the art movements of Warhol's pop culture immersion.
We will explore :
- Art History - Introduce students to Andy Warhol through video(s) (through YouTube videos embedded within the classroom), and biography worksheet.
- Art Analysis - Have students analyze the screen-printing process and compare and contrast two pieces of Warhol’s art.
- Production - Have students create weekly pop art inspired work by using what they have learned in this class.
6 Weeks at a glance:
- Week One: Introduction to screen printing. Combining photography and painting techniques.
- Week Two: Soup cans and the shading of cylinders
- Week Three: Repeat patterns of soup cans
- Pop art is defined a, "... art based on modern popular culture and the mass media" We will look at pop art methods used today for the remainder of our classes- all inspired by Andy Warhol.
- Week Four: Pop art animal
- Week Five: Pop art typography
- Week Six: Pop art people- using popular texture techniques to create unexpected dimension
Remember that a working understanding of Procreate is needed for this class- I have an Intro series that your student can participate in, if need be! (Look for the donut!)
