Description
Class Structure:
Review & Tips (10 minutes):
- Overview of various note-taking styles (list, outline, concept maps, keyword outlines, and Cornell Notes).
- In-depth discussion on the featured style of the day.
Educational Article Reading (15-20 minutes):
- Students and teacher take notes together.
- Followed by a 5-minute discussion and comparison of notes.
Educational TED-Ed Video (5-10 minutes):
- Note-taking session during the video.
- Followed by a 5-minute discussion and comparison of notes.
Wrap-Up & Discussion (5 minutes):
- Summary and final discussions as time allows.
Learning Process:
Repetition and Variety:
- Rotate note-taking styles with new videos and readings after the fourth meeting. Sessions can end or restart based on student demand.
- Six styles in all: Key Word Outlines, Lists, Outlines, Concept Maps, Cornell Notes, Sketch Notes
Flexible Enrollment:
- Students can join or leave the class as needed.
Practical Application:
- Continued practice and comparing notes with the teacher and peers will help students identify key elements to include in their notes and find a style that works best for them.
