***THIS CLASS IS FOR OLDER LEARNERS (10-12 YEARS OLD) who want more practice with the foundational spelling concepts listed below.***

During this class, learners will receive engaging, explicit, multi-sensory instruction based on the Orton-Gillingham approach. Originally developed for children with dyslexia or dysgraphia, this method benefits all children. We will spend two to four weeks working on these phonics concepts: consonant blends, magic 'e', vowel teams, and r-controlled vowels. We will also spend one week on short vowels, one week on digraphs and one week on ow/ou. Various props will be used during the lessons (magic wand for "magic e", sports balls for vowel teams ⚽, etc.). 1-3 worksheets will be attached to my classroom posts for optional additional practice.

Learners will:

⭐Trace sounds with their fingers on an object of their choice (towel, tabletop, stuffed animal, sandpaper, etc). 

⭐Touch spell, write words and write a sentence. I will offer a variety of sizes of words (short, medium, long) for them to choose from.

⭐Read words in isolation and part of a text.

**Prerequisite - learner must know at least 20 letter sounds**
