The elements are found in myths, legends, and philosophies from all around the world.  In this semester-long eight week independent study class, we will read stories with each element (fire, water, air, earth, and space) and thoughtfully look into the symbolism that we might find in these tales.  

This is a wonderful class for middle/high school students.  This is where the Waldorf curriculum reveals myths and legends from other cultures and themes of archetypes run deep.  We will also have guided writing/journaling assignments and self-led drawing activity in this class.  

My style of teaching is free-flowing, encouraging, interactive... allowing each student space to absorb their own lesson through the stories themselves, and giving time for personal processing through drawing or writing.  

We will seek to work with the archetype to answer the question... what part of this symbolism do I want to bring into my life?  The playfulness of wind or wonder of space, for example?

The self-paced format allows students to access the videos whenever it is convenient for them even when traveling or in a different time zone.   This is an independent study self-paced course that students can take their time on.
