Students will engage in activities that encompass: math, design, critical thinking, English Language Arts (ELA), informative writing, strategic planning, research skills, technological proficiency, artistic expression, and creative thinking.
Objective: The primary objective of this project is to immerse students in the entrepreneurial world and foster a clear understanding of what it takes to operate a Juice stand. Student Decision-Making: Throughout this project, students will have the autonomy to make decisions that mirror real-life entrepreneurial scenarios. They will decide on various aspects such as the Juice stand’s name, logo, menu offerings, pricing strategies, and roles within the business. These choices will empower them to think critically and creatively while developing essential business skills.
Feedback/Revisions: Students will actively participate in the feedback and revision process. They will reflect on their experiences, offering insights into what aspects of the project went well, what challenges they encountered, what fascinated them the most, and what additional knowledge they seek. This feedback loop encourages continuous improvement and provides opportunities for self-guided research and extension activities, allowing students to expand their understanding and skills.
Published Product: At the culmination of the project, students will have the opportunity to choose how they present their entrepreneurial journey. Options include creating an awareness campaign for their Juice Stand, and compiling a book of unique juice and smoothie recipes. These choices foster creativity and allow students to showcase their newfound knowledge and skills.
Extension Activities include: a menu innovation challenge, marketing campaign development, and a customer feedback/survey, sourcing locally.
This project has a total of 18 activities that can be done 30-40 minutes at a time over 2-3 weeks. Students can organize activities into a binder or staple them together for a comprehensive project package.
The project encourages students to utilize a wide range of resources, including the internet, textbooks, maps, and their peers to enhance their understanding and innovation. Each student will embark on a unique journey within the project, culminating in a presentation that enables their peers to glean insights from their discoveries if that is the direction you want to take the project. Students can also complete the project independently and without collaboration.
Additionally, students are encouraged to use colored pencils, markers, crayons, or other artistic tools to decorate their project materials. There are resources and extension activities provided for students who wish to delve deeper into the subject matter.
Any or all of the pages in the pdf file can be printed and used for students across a wide range of ages/skills, or collaboratively with kids of different ages. For example, younger kids may focus more on the design and drink recipes for the stand while older kids may also include the business plan and profit margin aspects of the project.
Depending on your student’s needs, there are several pages of scaffolding information, including vocabulary, facts, reading list, and weblinks. Scaffolding can be done at any stage throughout the project as needed.
