I adore helping young learners develop a love for writing by making writing lessons fun and engaging. We do a lot of creative writing, to begin, as this tends to be the most fun way to connect writing with what comes naturally to children—storytelling!! I seek to use topics that interest the individual learner, from super heroes to unicorns, princesses to sports, one-on-one tutoring allows us to use the things that interest your child to get them engaged in the writing process!
I graduated from Texas Woman's University, with a honors, with a Bachelor or Arts degree in English. I then went on to obtain several different teaching certifications: Early Childhood Through 4th Grade (EC-4), English 6-8 (Grades 6-8), and English as a Second Language (ESL). Long story short, this means I have the qualifications to professionally teach all subjects at the elementary level and English Language Arts at the middle school level.

Neurodivergency Specializations and Accommodations
ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia
Ms. Price has over 15 years of experience teaching learners with varying learning styles and needs! She especially loves working with learners who have been failed by the public school system in meeting their individual needs, helping them to unlock their own unique ways of learning to express their thoughts in written form!
While Ms. Price does NOT use one specific methodology for teaching neurodivergent learners, she does incorporate many different best practices that help ALL learners, including neurodivergent learners. If you have questions about specific needs your learner has and what accommodations Ms. Price could make for them, please feel free to reach out! Ms. Price believes that parents know their children best and seeks to work collaboratively with parents to provide the best learning experience!
Some of the best practices that Ms. Price incorporates into her 1:1 writing classes include:
- High interest topics! Ms. Price teaches writing using high interest topics vs. standardized (boring!) topics
- Offering choices! All learners benefit from having a say in how and what they learn, but this is especially important for neurodivergent learners. Ms. Price seeks to truly make her 1:1 lessons learner led by offering choices throughout the class. She gives learners the chance to choose a topic to write about, and if they need help coming up with ideas, offers several options, and then asks them to choose their favorite. She allows learners to write on paper or type in Google docs. For those who are choosing to write on paper, she asks if they'd prefer to write with pen, pencil, or markers!
- Lots of modeling! Ms. Price shares her screen with learners and models correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.
- Narrating! Ms. Price also reads out loud what she is typing, which can be especially helpful for dyslexic learners.
