In this personalized coaching session, you'll learn how to create a standout piece specifically tailored for national and local art competitions. We'll start by understanding the competition's judging criteria and use that to shape and refine your concept. Together, we'll brainstorm and select the strongest composition, then work step-by-step to develop your entry into its best possible version.

Class Structure and Teaching Style: This 1-on-1 coaching is highly interactive and tailored to your needs. Sessions will combine guided instruction, discussion, and hands-on practice. We'll use visual aids like slides, video clips, and reference images, along with constructive critiques to help you grow as an artist. You’ll get plenty of opportunities to ask questions, receive feedback, and engage in a creative dialogue.

Interaction: You will work closely with me throughout the process, from concept to final touches, ensuring your entry is as strong and unique as possible. Each session will be focused on your progress and personalized to help you succeed!

What I bring to the table:

With over 20 years of experience as an art educator, I have taught both traditional and digital art to a wide range of students, from children to adults. I have successfully guided students to excel in national art competitions, such as the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and Beta Club, and have helped them gain admission to top visual arts high schools and prestigious art programs. My daughter graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with the highest scholarship of her freshman class, and my son is a YoungArts Vocal Gold Award winner, reflecting the high level of mentorship I provide. As a professional artist, I regularly submit my own portfolio for jobs and commissions, and I’m well-versed in the standards required for successful art competition entries. My coaching is personalized, hands-on, and tailored to each student's unique artistic voice, focusing on developing their skills to create standout pieces for competitive success.
