Description
Academic & College Transition Mentoring provides personalized, one-on-one support for new college students. So much of a student's college success depends on their freshman year. A bad freshman year academically can make it significantly harder for students to improve their GPA down the line. This can later cause frustration for students who are hoping to apply to graduate school or competitive internships.
I meet one-on-one with each student, usually once each week, providing students that extra, outside support to help them make a smooth transition into college.
Who would benefit from Academic & College Transition Mentoring?
- Students who are nervous or anxious about starting college
- Students who want to be sure they transition successfully to college academics
- Students who find they are struggling with lower-than-they-wanted GPAs
- Students who need additional guidance and accountability
- Any student looking for someone other than their parent to help keep them on track
What does a session look like?
While each session is completely unique to each student, some things that may be discussed include:
- study strategies
- organization methods
- college life
- academic expectations
- communicating with professors
- joining extracurricular activities
- discussing course selections
- and more!
Student Review:
Ms. Carissa helped me in so many ways. Academically, I was lost and didn't know where to start after graduating high school, Her check-ins helped me a lot. I had many shutdowns. Ms. Carissa always made sure I got back on track. She inspires me how she goes above and beyond for her students' education. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn’t for her.
