Hi there!  

My name is Ms. Elizabeth, and I offer private reading tutoring to help your child with early reading skills and reading practice.

During our first session, I will assess what reading level your learner is on through fun activities and games that measure skills in phonological awareness, phonics, letter recognition, and spelling. Then we will follow a scope and sequence to learn the foundational skills your learner needs in order to start reading fluently. 

My tutoring program follows the research-based science of reading principles, including teaching oral language, phonological awareness and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading/language comprehension, and writing. I will work with your child to help ensure that they have a strong foundation in early literacy!

In this class, I am happy to support unique learning needs such as ADHD and dyslexia. Please let me know when signing up, and I will provide support. This may include extra brain breaks for your learner, using different kinds of sensory materials, and anything else needed to help support your child's focus (please let me know if there is anything in particular that you know will help your child, and we can include that in their learning program). The way I teach reading is highly effective for learners with dyslexia or other learning needs. My program is based on the Science of Reading principles, incorporates multi-sensory experiences, and is easily adaptable to fit each child's unique learning styles. I will work with your family to ensure your child gets the learning experience they need that will best support them along their journey in learning to read. I have taken courses on the Science of Reading and how to help students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, as well as courses on reading intervention. I try to stay up-to-date on current research and teaching methods for reading intervention, especially methods that are effective for children with learning disabilities.
