Description
A 6 week digital art course where we look at manipulating space allowing the illusion of three dimensionality. Join me in Digital Drawing School! Welcome to Drawing School...with a digital twist! I will use Procreate to work through basic principles of art, inviting students to use whatever program they are most comfortable with.
****This class assumes an understanding of the chosen digital srawing app! I will not be teaching the apps in this class, rather USING the apps to explore art concepts through the various mediums and methods they provide** If your student needs to learn how to use Procreate, please see my Intro series before enrolling in the "Drawing School" series!****.
Students will learn about the element of space including positive and negative space and how to create the illusion of depth on a two-dimensional surface. Notan activity takes students through positive/negative space and an analysis of famous artwork and student composition takes students through a deeper understanding of depth and how it was utilized by the Masters.
Week One: Positive and negative space
Week Two: Compositional Space
Week Three: Notan Activity
Homework: Analysis of Marie Joséphine Charlotte du Val d’Ognes by Marie Denise Villers
Week 4: Illusion of Space: Overlapping Shapes, Size and Placement
Week 5: Illusion of Space: Value or color, Linear Perspective and Detail
One Point Perspective
Homework: Analysis of Cezanne "Mont Sainte-Victoire"
When speaking about space with students and the illusion of three dimension in a piece of art, we also need to talk about composition. In the remainder of the class lessons, we will address composition, or the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredients that make up a piece of art.
Week 6: Rule of Thirds : Comparing and contrasting the use and non/use of the Rule of Thirds
Homework: Complete classwork.
