Description
Students who take this semester long course will learn all of the vocabulary, grammar and culture covered in both Beginner Russian Level 1-3. I am a certified middle/high school teacher with MEd who is a native Russian speaker.
Weeks 1-8
Beginning communication. Greet people and make small talk about family. Use adjectives in order to describe people, places, and things. Discuss interests and hobbies. Use common verbs in the present tense. Discuss food and meals. Create simple questions about food and drinks. Talk about family members. Count up to 20. Discuss and use colors in conversation. Cooking time (vinegret).
Weeks 9-16
Small talk about the city, house, and furniture. Domestic animals. Math operations in Russian. Count up to 500. Sport activities. Writing and reading simple words. Small talk about clothes. Cooking time (Russian potato salad). Alphabet. Reading basic words. Writing basic words. Personal Pronouns. Occupations. Final Presentation (role games).
I explain Russian culture making sure that students understand how and why we use special forms and dialect. We will practice some games, sing songs and learn new jokes as well. You don't need any materials. Everything will be provided here. I am expecting my students to practice 15 minutes every day. All slides with videos will be offered during the first week of the semester. I will be available for questions between the sessions. I will create formal and informal assessment giving immediate feedback about the pronunciation. As an experienced cook, I will teach students how to make Russian traditional healthy meals concentrating on healthy option. We will discuss music, weather, geography, architecture of Russia as well as many scientific, cultural and historical events. I want my students have a deeper understanding about our traditions and habits. I want to expand their horizon sharing my experience living in 2 beautiful countries.
