Description
This course covers the learning objectives of the first half of high school Spanish 1, and is designed for middle school students who have studied Spanish before. It is taught by Global Goose Languages instructor Alison Stangel, using the SOMOS curriculum. This curriculum presents new vocabulary and structures through story-telling, making it possible for the students to benefit from comprehensible input and acquire the language more naturally. Cultural studies are integrated, and explicit grammar instruction is also provided. Students can expect about 2 hours of independent work to be completed outside of class each week. Students joining in January will need to set up an evaluation with the teacher before joining the class to make sure it is a fit. The sequel to this class is Spanish 1B, which would be taken in the 2025-2026 school year, followed by Spanish 2 in the 2026-2027 school year.
Students wishing to complete Spanish 1 during the current school year should reach out for a free evaluation. Our teachers will provide options based on your current skill level, goals, and motivation.
