Description
Playful Digital Learning (PDL)
Have you always wanted to beat the Ender Dragon in Minecraft? In this class, students will work together to practice fighting mobs and completing the major challenges in the game on their way to victory! Every day, students will get to learn a new concept of Minecraft survival, then advance to the next steps that will lead them to the ultimate goal on the final day of camp: defeating the Ender Dragon! Students will get to experience both collaborating with others and completing individual activities throughout the class. Don’t worry if your student hasn’t played Minecraft Survival before. We will introduce the basics of the gamemode so even students who are playing Survival for the first time will be able to follow along throughout this class. On the way, we will learn about crafting, mining, enchanting, the nether, and so much more! Are you up for the challenge? Are you ready to vanquish the Ender Dragon?
For this class, only Minecraft Java Edition (not the Bedrock edition) for PC or Mac is supported. It is not compatible with iPads, tablets, phones, or game consoles. Students must purchase the Java Edition of Minecraft for their personal computers; tablets or consoles will not suffice.
In addition to providing a fun experience students will learn how to:
- Collaborate with other students to complete Minecraft Survival beginning to end
- Overcome obstacles by employing problem-solving skills
- Develop negotiating skills and multiplayer etiquette when conflict arises in a group setting and engage in teamwork
- Execute their creative ideas through conceptualization
- Use technology to accomplish goals
- Give instructions to others and accept feedback from teachers and peers alike
