Description
This comprehensive online high school World History class spans two semesters, covering the period from 1200 AD to the present day. In the fall semester, students will study significant events such as the Mongol Empire, the Age of Exploration, and the Enlightenment. The spring semester delves into the Industrial Revolution, World Wars, and modern global conflicts.
Designed for grades 9-12, the course uses engaging methods, including videos, interactive websites, simulations, and games, to make history come alive. Assignments range from quizzes to creative projects like posters, videos, and online discussions. The class encourages students to view history as a dynamic story and to continually ask, “So what?” to connect past events with present-day relevance.
Students should expect to spend 4 to 6 hours per week on coursework. The class also includes geography assignments, fulfilling state requirements for a World History and Geography credit. While not an AP course, extra materials are available for students interested in taking the AP History exam.
