With this multisensory resource, students will learn how the number 5 can be used as a benchmark number for addition.

Students will use fingers and pictures to understand 5 as a benchmark. 

For students beginning addition with numbers 0-10, students will understand that:

5=5+0

6=5+1

Students will use pictures for identifying these number bond patterns, as well as show them on their fingers. 

Finger Flash Game: This game will help develop fluency with identification. 

Extension Activities also included. 

Students can also use 5 and 10 frames to identify or display these number bonds.
