Description

This lesson plan provides information about Langston Hughes, the Harlem Renaissance, and leads students through an analysis of his poem "Dreams." Students will explore the specific language Hughes chose to communicate his message. They will also examine the specific poetic devices he used. This product includes teacher information, a lesson plan, a background information sheet for students, a worksheet/discussion guide for students, and an answer key. This lesson works best if students do not know the poem in advance. This lesson can work over two class periods, and would be easy to leave as part of substitute plans.
