Description
ASL for Advanced Part 8 FLEX is an exciting and interactive class for students who want to continue learning American Sign Language!
This class will be completely silent and is a full immersion class! We will use ASL as our only form of communication; the students will be fully emerged into the language which will greatly help increase their fluency in the language. The course will be very engaging by using PowerPoint slides, pictures, props, and animations to demonstrate and teach new vocabulary to the students. Although the course will be silent, it will be very easy for the students to follow along through the teaching style and communication tools used in class.
Weekly Class Schedule:
Week 1: Semantic Classifiers
Week 2: Locative Classifiers
Week 3: Element Classifiers
Week 4: Instrument Classifiers
Week 5: Driving Rules
Week 6: Olympic Sports and Deaflympics
Week 7: Age Descriptions
Week 8: Family and Friend Relationships
Week 9: Morning Routine and Descriptive Signing
Week 10: Fluency Test and Review
How the Course Works:
You have two options! When enrolling, please choose which option you prefer. You may email me which option you choose when sending your payment.
Option 1:
Every Sunday for the 10 week course, I will email weekly video. The students can watch the recording at their convenience throughout the week.
Every Friday I will email the class discussion questions to encourage student involvement and practice. These will include thought provoking questions and challenges to help increase the student's knowledge and ASL skills.
I will also be available throughout the week to answer questions and support the students through their progress of learning ASL.
Option 2:
When you enroll you can receive all 10 weeks of videos and discussion questions in one bulk email. The student can then move as quickly or as slowly through the content as they need. If you chose this option, I will be available weekly for 6 months to answer questions.
Additional Info
This is a Flex Class, each lesson will be posted on Sunday or Monday every week for you to watch and learn at your own pace and at your convenience. For participation, every student will be asked to get involved in the classroom discussions each week. They will also be asked to post short videos of their favorite signs and sentences that they learned throughout the course. I will be available to questions and discussion each week through the Classroom tab or private messages throughout the course as well to help your student receive the best learning environment as possible. I am very excited to teach, inspire, and encourage your student to learn this beautiful language!

Neurodivergency Specializations and Accommodations
There are many benefits to learning Sign Language! One is to help bridge the communication gap. Often times, individuals with neurodivergent differences struggle with communication. In some instances are non-verbal. This experience for a child can bring much frustration or behavioral difficulties due to the lack of communication skills. Teaching American Sign Language (ASL) can help bridge the gap of communication skills and improve the overall happiness that families experience because they are able to communicate more effectively.
Students without such severe neurodivergence difference can also benefit greatly! Having a different form of communication, other than speaking, for anxiety is extremely beneficial. Students with anxiety often struggle with communicating their feelings when they are in an uncomfortable situation. Having a different way to communicate their feelings to loved ones is highly beneficial.
ASL is an incredible language for students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia as well. The language is a visual and gestural language which makes learning a second language much easier than spoken languages for students with these difficulties.
