Hello! I am excited to meet your child in the classroom!
I am a mother to two wonderful Children, Alyssa (11) and Felix (8). I am married to my loving husband, we are celebrating our 14th year of marriage.
I have my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology: Child and Adolescent Development and graduated from Liberty University. I worked as the Child Advocate for a Women and Children's Shelter for 2 years, which then led me to become the Home Visitor for KidsFirst; I worked for KidsFirst for many years until my oldest was born. It was at that time, I discovered how poor the educational and daycare system was in our area. It was at that point that I opened a licensed, Montessori school for children ages 0-12. I was also a gymnastic coach for 8 years.
I am fluent in ASL and studied at Gallaudet University. I also earned my double certificate from International Academy. I teach American Sign Language (ASL), English as a Second Language (ESL), 1:1 Tutoring, as well as many specialty classes. I have been teaching ASL for over 12 years, around 8 years of which have been on online.
In 2005 and 2006, I had the privilege to help start an orphanage in Jamaica; it was there that I spent two summers loving and taking care of the beautiful orphaned Jamaican children. In addition, I also spent over 7 years living in Canada, and have enjoyed traveling with my family to 12 countries and 49 States.
I absolutely love children; I have passion for teaching and helping children see the joy's of learning. I enjoy having a fun, interactive, enthusiastic, creative learning environment while teaching my classes. I find the children learn more when they are able to interact, ask questions, and enjoy learning together. We will do a lot of hands-on learning, so come prepared to get messy, learn, have fun, and ask questions! Learning can be fun!!
