Description
I am passionate about helping teens strengthen core skills to succeed. This can often mean applying the content and skills often covered in lower-grade levels, allowing teens to develop skills and confidence by meeting them where they are.
Each week we will learn (or revise) an area of punctuation. This class is ideal for students who need more confidence getting to grips with grammar and punctuation.
We will look at colons, semicolons, commas, punctuating speech and apostrophes. The class is teacher-led, with direct instruction. Lessons will be delivered, with participation (via mic or chat box) from learners.
Making mistakes and asking questions will always be encouraged. Grammar can tough - but so are we!
Most of the lesson is delivered with direct instruction, but where appropriate we may play some online games too, to practice our punctuation skills.
This is a ongoing weekly class, that will run for 16 weeks. Learners can join at any time. I run the class with any amount of learners - so have no fear about signing up and the class being cancelled due to low-enrollment.
Neurodivergency Specializations and Accommodations
I focus on building confidence and foundational skills in a nurturing and empowering environment. I help teens master core concepts, overcome academic challenges, and develop a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom.
At the heart of my teaching philosophy lies a belief that learning should be an adventure, sprinkled with curiosity. We can be serious about learning without it always being too serious.
I am a teacher who welcomes all students exactly as they are. I have a lot of experience with neurodivergent children and am a neurodivergent adult myself. Cameras can be turned off if preferred (after a quick hello with the camera on).
When appropriate, I create 'low-demand' classroom experiences, which can work especially well with learners experiencing anxiety or those with PDA. I encourage and welcome participation, but am very quick to adapt to learners who are unable or unwilling to partake in an obvious and active manner. This can mean only using the chat, or even only listening.
