This six week personal finance class educates young students on the importance of having knowledge of and positive behavior surrounding money management. Students will learn the fundamental skills of saving, budgeting, and investing. The class also covers the basics of understanding taxes, insurance, debt and credit, investing, retirement planning, and even introduces students to considering higher education based on career goals. The main objective of this course is to help students gain a more comprehensive understanding of financial relationships and what to expect after high school. The goal is that students will leave the course with more confidence in their ability to manage their own finances, plan for their future, and to enter the world as prepared adults.
PERSONAL FINANCE COURSE FORMAT
Classes are asynchronous. No live meetings. View lessons on your schedule within the designated timeframe (2 weeks to complete each lesson plan). Expect 1-2 hours to work through the lesson plan each week, and an additional 1-3 hours working on assignments (depending on the chosen assignment and time management skills). Each lesson includes a fully narrated PowerPoint presentation, complete with images and videos to enhance the learning experience.
