Description
Join me for a fun, daily reading class using phonics to help your child start the reading process through daily practice and games.
This class is the perfect fit for anyone just beginning to read and proceeds at a level consistent with first grade reading through the summer or school year, getting progressively more difficult as the class continues.
TYPICAL CLASS ROUTINE:
Greeting/Get to know you time
Phonics review and story/word reading
Learning game
Closing/puppet time
POSSIBLE READING CONCEPTS:
Short vowel review and usage in CVC words
Long vowel review and usage in CVCE words
Long vowel words located in more difficult words
Introduction of consonant and vowel blends and diagraphs
Learning to read with fluency, attention to punctuation, and using phonics to decode

I try to keep students engaged through a mix of games, learning time, interesting stories, and great student interaction. I enjoy learning about each child and making a connection that makes them want to return to class!
CLASS SCHEDULE:
Weeks one and two (6/10 & 17)- stories with simple short vowel words (it may take several weeks for learners to be comfortable with short vowel words). Each section may learn at a different pace.
Week three (6/24)- stories using short and long vowel words
Weeks four and following (7/1 and following)- stories using simple two letter blends followed by gradually more difficult stories and sounds such as ou, ch, th, etc.
Adjustments may be made to the schedule depending on ability and progress of learners.
