Drawing for Everyone Class Information
See our full course description and additional information such as required supplies on our website.
This high school course is designed for both passionate art students and those looking to explore drawing as a new skill. We will cover essential techniques, including drawing materials, contours and gestures, negative space, sighting, hidden geometric forms, realistic shading, texture development, proportion, perspective (both linear and atmospheric), composition, and, as a bonus, comic and character drawing. The course will feature a dynamic studio environment with live video, lessons, demos, and drawing sessions.
Outside of class, students will complete daily sketch assignments and finished projects, with supplemental tutorials and resources provided. Encouraging feedback will be offered by the teacher, peers, and fellow students throughout the semester. The course accommodates all skill levels, offering beginner and advanced projects to match students' mastery levels. Basic drawing supplies (pencils, kneaded eraser, pen, and sketchbook) are required, though students are welcome to use higher-quality materials if desired. Great artists improve through consistent practice, and this course will provide ample opportunities for growth. Expect to spend 2-5 hours or more outside of class working on your skills. Prepare to enhance your abilities and discover new ways to express yourself
