Description

âž– Why Study Philosophy?âž–

Studying philosophy involves developing critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and reasoning skills. By analyzing sound reasoning and understanding logical arguments and fallacies students learn to discern truth from lies in social media posts, advertisements, news articles, and political speeches.

âž– Benefits of Ongoing Philosophy Classesâž–

Flexible Enrollment: Each week's session is designed to stand alone, allowing you to join at any time without missing a beat.

Adaptable Scheduling: Whether you are a homeschooler, roadschooler, worldschooler, or afterschooler, our classes fit into your schedule seamlessly.

• No Long-Term Commitment: Trial a class with ease and experience the benefits of philosophy education without a long-term commitment.

âž– What To Expect âž–

Weekly Adventures: Each week we are introduced to a different situation either through current events or the book Harry Stottlemeir's Discovery by Matthew Lipman. (No purchase necessary-the teacher will utilize screen sharing to read the relevant sections in class). These will be our springboard into our Socratic discussions.

Interactive and Learner Focused: The facilitator introduces the topic and the discussions will follow the students ideas and thoughts. The learners get to lead the conversation and focus on what interests them the most.

Our Circle of Inquiry:

In our class, all ideas are worthy of examination. This is a student-centered class where the teacher does not impose their own ideas but instead facilitates the discussion. Learners thoughts will be shared in a non-judgemental space filled with trust and respect. This method empowers students, builds confidence, and encourages the sharing of ideas openly.

Small Class Size: Maximum Engagement!

The number of philosophers in class is capped at 8. Small class size ensures that all students have the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas, creating a dynamic and engaging learning experience.

Class Preview:

Warm Up: Introductions and thought-provoking questions: Would you rather have a song or a book written about you? If you could have any superpower what would you choose and why?

Topic of the day: Round Robin discussion where we unpack the philosophical concepts together.

Wrap up:  Closing thoughts and topics to ponder.
