In this 4 session flex class, beginning ukulele students will learn to pick and strum "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". No prior knowledge is required, but it is recommended that students take my "Surf" and/or "Wipeout" class first, where we will learn the chords (Surf) and I explain how to read ukulele tablature (tabs). The students need to already have their ukuleles tuned to the notes G, C, E and A.
In the first class, students will learn (or hopefully review) these basic chords: C, C7, G7, F and D7.
In the 2nd class, students will review the chords and playing the whole song with a basic 4 beat down strum pattern. We will also begin learning to finger-pick the melody of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow
In the 3rd class, students will continue to learn to finger-pick the melody to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
In the 4th class, we review both picking and strumming "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Students will also be shown 3 more difficult optional strum patterns for the song.
Since practice is an important part of learning an instrument, it is recommended that students practice 15 minutes, 4 days per week for a total of 60 minutes practice per week. Practice logs will be provided.
This class was created in 2024 and already has 1 five-star review!
