Are you tired of driving your child to piano lessons? Do you struggle to find time for lessons in your busy schedule, knowing you have to add travel time? Look no further--online lessons are available!

I have taught online piano lessons since 2020 when everything shut down with covid. After things opened back up, many parents (and teachers!) found that they didn't want to return to in-person lessons. I continue to teach many of my "covid" online students to this day, due to the convenience of taking lessons in the comfort of your own home!  If you are concerned about how online lessons will work, I'd encourage you to give it a try.

In these weekly one on one piano lessons, beginner, intermediate and early advanced piano students will continue to learn how to play their piano or electric keyboard.

The students will use the method books Faber Piano Adventures Levels Primer, 1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4 or 5, depending on their current level of playing.

Using the Technique book, students will learn technique for playing the piano, including posture, hand position, scales and fingering.

Using the Lesson book, students will learn note names, rhythm, music reading and dynamics.

Using the Performance book, students will put into practice the concepts learned in the Technique and Lesson books, while playing slightly more difficult "performance" pieces with expression. I will provide accompaniment tracks for the students to practice with for some of the songs in the Performance book, so they can provide mini concerts for their friends and family members.

Using the Theory book, students will learn to write music symbols, such as various notes and clefs. They will also practice their sight-reading skills.

We will progress through the books at the student's pace. Students will be assigned 1 or more pages in each book to practice between lessons.

Due to the nature of private instrument lessons, I require a student's camera to be on at all times. It should be pointed at the student's fingers on their instrument so I can best help with proper technique. I will send a picture of the ideal camera position before lessons start.

Since practice is an important part of learning an instrument, students should practice 15+ minutes per day for 4-5 days per week, for a minimum of 60 minutes of practice per week. Practice logs will be provided for students to write down the pages to practice and the number of minutes they practice per week.

If a student is more than 10 minutes late, it will be considered a missed class and the class is not eligible for a refund. If the student needs to cancel class, I will reschedule if possible or issue a credit, as long as I am notified more than 24 hours in advance. In general, students are allowed to cancel/reschedule 1 lesson every 8 weeks (with 24+ hours notice). Exceptions may be made in emergency situations.

If I as a teacher have a scheduling conflict, I will either contact you to reschedule for a different time or issue a credit for the next month's lessons.

I began learning to play the piano at the age of 5 and have played the piano ever since. I took private piano lesson for 17 years, including in college (BS in Music Education) and while I earned my Master's Degree (MA in Church Music). I have been teaching private piano lessons to students using these books for over 20 years. I have taught private piano lessons to literally hundreds of students, both in my home and in a school setting. I have been the primary church pianist at various churches for 15 years and would love to supplement lessons using hymns and choruses. I look forward to helping you on your piano adventure!

This is what parents say about my piano lessons:

~We love Ms. April! We’ll definitely be back for more classes!

~Teaching piano effectively to children takes talent. Teaching it virtually is just even more incredible. Ms. April took my children from ZERO experience to being comfortable on the piano and ENJOYING piano. She is incredible ! I am so thankful :)

~My girls love working with Ms. April! She is so patient and kind when working with them and makes learning fun for them. They are always excited for their lessons and have learned so much!

~Ms. April is fun and patient! My 6 year old had a great time with her and made his lessons enjoyable. We were very pleased with the experience and how organized she was in working through each book and what to practice each week. Thank you!
