- Dyslexia-friendly, multi-sensory instruction.
- The student will be given a reading skills test to determine which skills they need the most help with. Parents are provided with the results of the test. The reading tutoring session is designed around the student's needs, especially targeting phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, fluency, spelling, test-taking skills, and much more!
- Parent input is welcome and encouraged. These sessions are student-driven; we will work on the skills that your child needs the most work on, not from a pre-determined curriculum.
- Reading tutoring students are provided with a spelling program that complements the skills taught in the lessons. The spelling component consists of videos and practice sheets used in my flex classes. One week of spelling content will be assigned for each week of tutoring lessons attended. This is a bonus, not required to be completed by the student. (Valued at $10 per week).
- Instruction follows the Phono-Graphix method for teaching reading which was designed for students with Dyslexia and is based on the Science of Reading.
- Here is a list of some of the skills taught: phonics, decoding, phonemic awareness, multi-syllable management, comprehension, vocabulary, inferencing, summarizing, and drawing conclusions.
