Secular Curriculum
Holly Nanette Ferrise (she/her/hers), MSW (Interpersonal practice), MPH (Health Behavior/Health Education), has spent much of the last 30 years learning, teaching, and facilitating various topics of sexuality education, including facilitating Our Whole Lives at the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor, Michigan and online to (mostly) homeschoolers for several years. She is OWL trained and has experience working in queer communities, with sexual assault survivors and issues, with safer sex education, and has a strong passion for education, advocacy, and community building with regards to sexual orientation and gender identity.
She believes in the authenticating power of both deep personal exploration, rich communication in community, and an intersectional approach, which are parts of why she loves the OWL program. She lives with her two spirited kids and two adorable cats and enjoys cooking, board games, social justice advocacy, movies, and challenging binaries and smashing the patriarchy at any given opportunity.
Background checked through 4H (MSU Extension), 2021 & the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor, Fall, 2023 (2024 in process).
This Our Whole Lives based course is not just about puberty, STIs, and pregnancy. Its aim is to help discern values, communicate them clearly, and to develop a foundation for healthy relationships with self and others over the course of one's life.
