English Composition I aims to enhance each student’s writing skills by exploring the components of the rhetorical situation across various contexts. Students will learn to analyze different audiences and write purposefully, adopting specific stances within diverse genres.
Students will demonstrate their ability to:
- Apply critical thinking skills in their reading and writing.
- Integrate personal reflection and interpersonal feedback into their essays.
- Revise and edit drafts as a standard part of the writing process.
Write essays that:
- Feature substantial and relevant content.
- Exhibit awareness of audience and rhetorical purpose.
- Adhere to the conventions of standard edited American English.
