Intended for a long-term commitment.
Phonemic Awareness is the ability to hear and manipulate the sounds in spoken words and the understanding that spoken words and syllables are made up of sequences of speech sounds (Yopp, 1992; see References).

Reading, spelling, and writing instruction perfect for people with dyslexia and other learning and language disabilities, English Language Learners, Kindergarten readiness.
Lessons
Each class will begin with oral/auditory warm-ups with a focus on listening for sounds in words, identifying sound placement, and similarities and differences between words. Learners will practice segmenting and blending sounds using arm movements, manipulatives, fingers. Learners will listen for and match rhyming words. Learners will also practice listening for syllables.
Using the Orton-Gillingham approach printing practice using tactile surfaces. As we learn new letter/sound combinations, letter placement within a word, we will practice encoding and decoding words. We will practice all skills throughout the course.
Each will follow the same schedule.

The Alphabetic Principle will follow this scope and sequence:

Assessments
During the first class or two, students will complete an informal assessment. Students will also be assessed through observation during class time.
Materials:
Dry erase board
Marker
Eraser
Cubes or Legos or Tiles, etc. (1 red, 1 yellow, 1 green)
Tactile surface (sand paper or tray, scouring side of sponge)
Policies
Payment and Cancellation Policy
- Fees: $40/30 minutes, $70/55 minutes.
- $50 non-refundable deposit due at enrollment to hold agreed upon time, and will be put towards first class.
- Payment is due before class begins.
- Alphabetic Principles requires 24 hours notice for cancellations. Payment will be put towards the next class.
- Otherwise under 24 hours, payment goes towards cancelled or missed class.
- If student has not logged in by 10 minutes after the start of the class, the teacher will log out. Payment is non-refundable.
- We understand that things come up or technology doesn't work, but no shows will be considered the same as cancellation.
- Alphabetic Principles requires 2 weeks notice of discontinuation of services as a courtesy.
