I'll give you clues and you get to guess the animal for the week. Then we'll learn cool facts about the animal! Come join me!

This is a fun ongoing class to encourage beginning writers to write more while learning to describe animals using various adjectives and verbs. When learners practice writing at an early age, they become more creative and confident in their writing skills as they grow. Writing is easier as we brainstorm ideas together as a class. I will encourage writing using descriptive words for the animals.

I give the students clues to help them guess the animal each week. Then we'll learn fun facts about the animal as a class. There will be a new animal taught each week, so learners will not need to worry about repeating an animal that they have learned no matter the lesson they attend.

We will begin each class learning about an animal. We will then talk about different adjectives and verbs to describe the animal and their behaviors. Students should come prepared with a notebook or paper on which to do their writing. There is a printable pdf file in the "Welcome" message you will receive when you enroll. You may print this wide-lined paper for students to use when writing their stories. This may help them write neatly and organize their work. After class discussion, students will be given time to write several sentences about the animal using some of the adjectives and verbs we will discuss during class.

Near the end of class, learners will have the opportunity to share their writing and build confidence in speaking with others. No one will be required to share, but may choose to do so if they would like encouragement and applause.
