High school literature adventures begin in this genre-driven course that immerses students in the study of short stories, poetry, drama, fiction, and non-fiction. Through an extensive exploration of literary devices, students will build confidence in academic discourse and analysis, honing responsible writing practices that prepare them for high school English mastery. Engaging in rich literary discussions and guided reading and annotation—both inside and outside the classroom—students will uncover profound truths in beloved works of literature.

The course emphasizes reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and composition. Students will write literary analysis essays and participate in discussions designed to deepen understanding, answer questions, and enhance communication skills. Vocabulary drawn from the texts will be incorporated, with quizzes provided to reinforce learning. Due to the interactive nature of the class, a functioning microphone is required.
