Short Summary
Class Information
Description
In this weekly class, learners will dive into word classes, sentence building and more. Each lesson will focus on one element of grammar, supporting learners to develop their confidence and knowledge when writing.
This 6 week course will run from January 8th 2024 to February 12th 2024. I am running this for FREE as a trial of teaching on a new teaching platform, in a new way. I may extend the free course if it proves successful.
This is a free 30-minute weekly lesson, adapted from a successful paid-for class I teach. The paid-for class ( Ms Riot's Grammar Class) is 45 minutes long and is a small class of up-to 6 students. In the 45 minute version, students can have cameras on, mics on and interact with me and their classmates. In this free 30-minute version, whilst the work remains interactive, students will not have cameras, mic or a shared chat box.
I teach many small group classes online. You can find them all here ---> Ms Riot Online Classes
This class is designed to help teens strengthen foundational grammar skills in a way that builds their confidence. Each lesson focuses on a single area of grammar, making it easier for students to grasp concepts step by step. Designed for teens working at lower grade levels, I provide extra guidance and support to help build confidence and skills while exploring grammar and writing.
✨ Why Study Grammar?
A solid grasp of grammar is essential for clear and effective writing. It gives students the tools they need to express their ideas with clarity, structure their thoughts logically, and make a powerful impact through their words. Building a vocabulary around grammar and writing develops our learners' ability to understand why a sentence does or does not make sense.
Interactive Learning with Real-time Support
Participation is encouraged but never forced. In the paid-version of this class ( https://bit.ly/msriotgrammar) , which is a 45 minute small group class, learners can engage through their microphone, cameras or chat box, ask questions, and engage in their own way. In this free-version of the class, all cameras and shared chat will be off. Learners will engage with the lesson on interactive slides, quizzes and polls.
Learning Goals:
Learners will explore different elements of grammar each lesson. They will cover word classes, verb tenses, sentence structure, punctuation and more.
In addition to Youtube, this class uses:
Nearpod (no account or log in required)
This free-version is taught via a Youtube private livestream link. Students will also need to log into a Nearpod link, where the work will be viewed and completed. Some learners have two windows/tabs open at one time. Some learners just hear me via youtube, but only look at the Nearpod screen, which works just fine.
