See our full course description and additional information such as required supplies on our website.
This course, a continuation of Illustration and Visual Storytelling, focuses on creating picture books. Students will develop a complete picture book based on an existing literary work, such as a classic story, fairy tale, Bible story, historical event, or legend.
The course covers the entire process of book creation, including brainstorming, scripting, thumbnail sketches, character and art design, and cover design. Students will learn how to adapt text into visuals, select appropriate illustrations, and develop a distinctive style. Instruction will encompass both traditional and digital art techniques, basic layout skills, and technologies relevant to book production and art projects. By the end of the course, students will complete a picture book that can enhance their portfolio or serve as a foundation for personal projects.
