This spring semester course provides high school students with a deep understanding of the Elements and Principles of Design, as well as hands-on experience with a range of traditional artist materials. Each week, students will concentrate on a specific design element, drawing from both historical and contemporary examples. They will complete weekly art projects that integrate these concepts.

Students will also take a trip to a museum or gallery of their choice during the semester. All projects will be completed in non-digital formats, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and other design methods. This semester's focus will be on balance, unity, contrast, emphasis, pattern, movement, and rhythm.
