Description
Philosophy is not about finding life’s answers. It’s about considering life’s questions. This philosophy class, modeled on an intro college philosophy class and taught by an instructor with undergraduate and graduate degrees in philosophy, provides a context for teens to think more deeply about the choices and experiences of their everyday lives, from ethics to artificial intelligence to "knowledge," identity, language, art, and logic. The readings and short weekly writing assignment allow students to contextualize and articulate ideas and contribute to the ongoing conversation that is philosophy.
Because of the nature of the assignments, excellent reading skills (high school+ level) and the maturity to participate in thoughtful discussion are a must.
Optional end-of-semester honors project for those who want to extend their learning.
Neurodivergency Specializations and Accommodations
Class designed with gifted learners in mind: complex materials, high input, relatively low output. For students who want to dig deep, not just check a box.
