WHAT IS THIS CLASS ABOUT?

Tessellations are a wonder! Come join me to demystify how they work by learning some of the different techniques to create pattern pieces - tiles - that create incredible interlocking patterns. We'll start by discussing what they are and where to find them, and then dive into making our own! 

On days 1-3, we'll explore a different type of pattern each day, and each day students will likely finish at least tracing their pattern out over an entire page. But please note: learners may not finish decorating their pages of tessellations during class time, especially if they opt to make a very complex design. 

Day 4 will be devoted to putting it all together and offering a work day to complete unfinished designes, or create others! 

(Also note: there is mention of math in this class! This is definitely focused on the art side, but I'll be mentioning some geometry terms as we go, since tessellations are grounded in math.)

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED?

You'll have some prep work before class! You'll need 3"x3" square pieces of cardstock (or similar). We will go through 1-2 of them every day. We may also use hexagons (I will provide a pattern). 

You'll also need white paper (8.5"x11"/A4 or larger) on which to trace their patterns!
