In our private sessions, I'll work 1-on-1 with learners from ages 5+ to help you with whatever art skills you choose! I'm skilled in teaching multiple media/techniques: drawing, bookmaking, painting, clay, oil pastel...you name it!

I'm a certified art teacher/teaching artist with a BFA in graphic communications / illustration, and MAT in Art Education PreK-12. I'm also a bookmaker and illustrator with a passion for not just creating my own art, but helping learners develop the skills they need to create their own! 

I work individually with learners to develop a plan appropriate for their needs, and I'll suggest as much or as little in-between work ("at-home assignments") as you wish.


Possibilities include:

• For younger students, we might work on building a specific skill, like exploring how to use paintbrushes, while still encouraging abundant free form exploration.
  
  
• For older students,I can do things like:
  • help walk them through perceptual exercises to build their skills in drawing from observation;
  • guide through making their own books or pop-ups;
  • tutor them in children's book illustration, including breaking up a story to create a dummy, character design, etc;
  • offer feedback or guidance in many media:  painting, drawing, oil pastels, watercolors, clay, collage, and more.

We'll agree on a set course for the curriculum together. I'm offering these sessions in 45-minute increments, but can adjust to 30 mins or 60 mins as appropriate (with an adjusted price), based on age & skill level.
