Description

In days filled with texts and instant messages, it is rare to receive heartfelt, written communication. This class allows your young student to craft an original essay about a treasured person in their life. In two class sessions, with brief work outside of class, students are guided through each step of the writing process. After this class, they will have a brief essay or a personal letter that can be gifted to a special someone.

Curriculum: All instructional materials are provided by me.

Scope and Sequence: Basing instruction in IEW's unit seven structure, we will discuss the process needed to write a brief essay.

Class Structure: This class includes segments of guided writing using the PDF handouts provided. Instructions are given and questions are answers. Opportunities for sharing ideas will be given. We will refer to the steps of the process often throughout the two classes.

Assignments: Students will need to work outside of class to complete the essay. All essays that are submitted to me within two weeks of the end of class will receive editing and written feedback.

Note: Ages are flexible for this class.
