This semester 1 class takes place from September through December.  Semester 2 will be available for enrollment mid-summer and runs January through April.

This class is semester one of a full academic year class. Semester two begins in January.  

Sample an IEW writing class with my one-time class: Paragraph Writing.

Curriculum: IEW's Adventures in Writing is a level A, elementary reading level, theme-based writing book which covers units one through seven of the IEW writing method. 

Scope and Sequence: Each class will focus on one lesson in the new Adventures in Writing Level A book.  This first semester class will teach IEW units one through four.  Structure will be taught through key word outlines, retelling stories, and paragraph structure. Style will be introduced including the "ly" adverb, who/which clause, and strong verb. 

Class Structure: Each class will include a greeting activity, mechanics and style, a writing lesson, and a review or vocabulary exercise. 

Assignments: Weekly homework will be given according to the Adventures in Writing suggested assignments. All assignments that are submitted to be according to the instructions will receive editing and written feedback.  Feedback will be based on the checklist included in the book.
