The semester 1 class takes place from September through December.  Semester 2 runs January through April.

This class is semester two of a full academic year class. For those who did not attend semester one, please also enroll in Overview of IEW Writing Units 1-4, which begins in November.

Curriculum: IEW's Wonders of Science Writing Lessons will be the foundation of this class.  Although it is categorized as level A on the IEW website, it is listed for middle school grades as well.  This class can be a great step towards IEW Level B books.   

Scope and Sequence: This second semester class will teach IEW units six through nine.  Structure and style continue to be the focus. Multiple types of essays are explored in this class. 

Class Structure: Each class will include a greeting activity, mechanics and style, a writing lesson, and a review or vocabulary exercise. 

Assignments: Weekly homework will be given to practice the tools and concepts introduced in class. All assignments that are submitted to me according to the instructions will receive editing and written feedback.  Feedback will be based on the checklist included in the book.
