Description
This one-off lesson for learners aged 13-16 is a fun writing project writing a fairy-tale-inspired newspaper article. A modern look at the Three Little Pigs will engage, amuse and challenge learners' thinking. The modern retelling will include reference to the murder of the wolf by boiling him alive, conspiracy, and the right of the pigs to protect their homes from invasion. This is therefore suited to children aged 13+.
The lesson will support learners to:
- Write a compelling news story.
They will learn or revise how to include:
- direct and indirect quotes in the article
- parenthesis and relative clauses
- passive voice
Learners will be provided with a model text (an example) to support them with their independent writing. The lesson is divided into 4 videos (ranging from 10 mins - 20 mins) , with accompanying grammar worksheets. For example, learners will learn how to punctuate speech with some worksheets to practice this skill, so that they can confidently punctuate the speech in their newspaper article.
The lesson has 5 short grammar worksheets that can be completed before learners write their newspaper article. The lesson is listed for 1 week, but I will respond to learners work for a full month, to allow time for completion.
If learners want to submit their news article, I would love to read them. Learners can submit their report to me, and request supportive feedback. If they'd rather submit it, and have no feedback, that is also fine.
