Film and visual storytelling have become the defining literature of our time, making it crucial for young people to develop fluency in this dynamic and influential medium. This introductory course lays a strong foundation in visual media, covering key concepts and techniques that can be applied across various platforms, including film, television, web video, and mobile video. The course will be highly interactive, with students sharing assignments and independently producing short video projects.
Throughout the course, students will learn: (1) the fundamental principles of visual storytelling; (2) story structure for film and other linear media; (3) lighting techniques and equipment; (4) camera techniques and equipment; (5) audio production techniques and equipment; (6) editing techniques and tools; and (7) the use of visual media for global evangelization.
