Description
Welcome!
I am so excited to offer this semester-long, one-on-one English course that is designed specifically for your student. Communication is key in the design for this course. Being a licensed English educator enables me to develop curricula that are not only grade-appropriate and aligned with standards but also customized to suit your learner's interests or preferences. Whether your student is advanced, seeking a challenge, or requiring substantial support to catch up, we can collaboratively design a curriculum tailored precisely to their needs.
I believe all students deserve a well-rounded education. In each English course, I will include:
- Variety of reading materials (eg. articles, novels, short stories, poetry, etc.)
- Reading comprehension and analysis strategies and activities
- Writing assignments of varying lengths (short response to essays)
- Strategies and outlines for writing pieces
- Creative and academic writing options
- Grade-appropriate vocabulary
- Guided and student-led discussion of materials
I am a kind, friendly, and energetic educator. Infusing humor into my classes is a joy for me, and I value the opportunity to connect with each student individually. My philosophy centers on nurturing student confidence, as I believe it is pivotal to their growth. I'm committed to highlighting student strengths and providing unwavering support as we address any areas needing improvement.
It is important that I meet with students at least 3 days per week. I will assign reading and writing homework between class sessions, but this can be adjusted according to your learner's strengths and available time. Your input is necessary when it comes to designing this course for your learner. While communicating about this class, I would like to know:
- Your learner's reading and writing strengths
- Areas in which you feel your learner needs to grow
- Writing samples
- Your learner's interests and hobbies
- Your learner's feelings toward reading and writing
- The grade level of your learner
Please reach out with any questions! I would be happy to talk about the endless possibilities that this course can offer you and your learner.
This course is hosted on Outschool.
