Secular Curriculum
About Me:
Hello! My name is Shannon Johnsen, and I am a licensed English teacher for students in grades 5-12. I am passionate about teaching reading and writing skills. I even think grammar is FUN! I love to discuss literature, so I look forward to hearing learner perspectives on the poems, novels, and short stories that are part of my classes. I enjoy spending part of every class getting to know my students, and I do my best to ensure that all of my students know I care about them.
Specialties:
Continuous Learning:
I finished my master's degree in Educational Psychology in 2022, which was a fantastic learning experience. All of my materials are made with theories of educational psychology in mind. I care deeply about social emotional learning, so I am passionate about creating resources that teach SEL skills.
Teaching Style:
I am an enthusiastic and energetic educator. I care deeply about providing individualized and positive learning experiences. I feel it is just as important to show students what they do well as it is to explain what they can improve. I can't wait to work with you!
